I was born in Cali, Colombia, in 1987. I grew up in a loving middle-class family, in a country that had been going through war for a few generations. As a result of this war, ever since I can remember stories of violence are commonplace, in a society that has grown used to acts of social injustice, corruption and all kinds of abuse.

I use a visual language that allows me to project contemplations about Colombia and our historical, social and political context. This context which is so complex that it has acted transversally in the lives of all of us who have been its territory. I see art as a poetic act of resistance and creating memory, to satisfy an almost obsessive need to retain in time that which should not be forgotten

SALOMÉ BRAVO  I

“What Colombia is lacking more than a 'foundational myth' is a national story, a story that ceases to place violence in the sub-history of natural catastrophes, cataclysms or pure revanchisms of factions moved by irreconcilable interests, and begin to weave a story of a common memory that like all social and cultural memory will be conflictive but knotting ”
