“Screenshots”
Serie de pinturas creadas a partir de capturas de pantalla de diferentes documentales donde se relatan casos de las víctimas de los falsos positivos en Colombia. A pesar de que la guerra en este país ha sido transversal en la vida de casi todos los colombianos y clases sociales de manera directa o indirecta, algunos de los episodios más crueles de este conflicto han afectado más brutalmente a personas de las zonas rurales y barrios de estratos más bajos. Personas sin grandes influencias ni recursos que lo único que tienen para continuar pidiendo justicia, es su voz y su tristeza, pero se enfrentan al olvido y la indiferencia de la sociedad. La mayor parte de personas, hemos sido testigos de estos hechos a través del tv, computador...y gracias a las noticias que los medios de comunicación se esfuerzan en minimizar o parcializar.
¨En una ocasión estaba viendo unos documentales para entender mejor este episodio de los falsos positivos. Estaba sintiendo una pena muy profunda al escuchar estas historias, y mientras los veía a ellos, me veía también reflejada en la pantalla de mi Mac, y pensé en los curioso de ese espacio virtual que estábamos compartiendo. En ese plano estábamos todos en un solo lugar. La realidad es que estamos muy lejos, no nos conocemos, y tal vez no lo hagamos y mi vida como la de muchos puede ser indiferente a ellos. Quise trasladar algo de esa sensación a través de un pequeño acto de resistencia al tiempo y el olvido, como lo es la pintura. Ésta fue mi manera de dar eco a esas voces.¨

Series of paintings created from screenshots of various documentaries which show cases of the victims of ‘falsos positivos’ in Colombia. Despite the fact that war in this country has crossed the lives of most Colombians of all social classes directly or indirectly, some of the cruellest episodes of this conflict have affected most brutally those in the countryside and those from poorer neighbourhoods. People with limited influence or resources, who have only their voice and sadness to cry for justice, but face oblivion and indifference from society. Most of us have been witness to these facts through the tv, the computer, and the news that the media try to minimize or politicize.
“I was once watching some documentaries to better understand this episode of the ‘falsos positivos’. I felt deeply sorrowed as I heard these stories, and seeing them I also saw myself, reflected on the screen of my Mac, and thought about this interesting virtual space we were sharing. In it, we were all in the same place. The reality is that we are very far, we do not know each other and perhaps never will, and my life, as that of so many, can be indifferent to them. I wanted to bring some of that feeling through a small act of resistance to time and oblivion, as is painting. This was my way of echoing those voices.”
